I would call myself an "advancing beginner" fly fisher. So far I am very pleased with this 9ft5wt Clearwater Combo. Fin&Fire set up my combo for right hand retrieval and shipped it out pronto. Most of my fishing is wading in tailwater rivers of northcentral Arkansas, where the trout are persnickity and spooked easily at my sloppy casting. This combo has upped my self confidence considerably. The medium action rod feels like an extension of my arm & has really improved casting accuracy. The reel is light, winds easily & shoots line through the guides in one fluid motion. The Orvis line is great - I can made long, smooth, spot-on casts of double dries, nymphs or hopper droppers with little concern of tangling. The line floats well to allow effortless mending. And there is no "memory coiling" of the extra fly line at my knees ontop of the water. I've caught fish each time I've used it!
