I love fishing , the small rivers and streams around the white mountains of New Hampshire where I live. This rod is absolutely perfect for that. I’m amazed at how sensitive and accurate it is. Takes very little effort to cast the fly right where I want it. This rod is a joy to fish!
Have the rod matched with an Orvis Clearwater II reel and it handles magnificently. The 4 wt 9’ rod is awesome. I couldn’t be more satisfied. Currently trout fishing in NE Iowa, Allamakee County. The service was fantastic, received the rod I believe in 2 days. Thank you to the staff. Highly recommend this rod (wt and length) for fly fishing the majority of trout streams in the Midwest and elsewhere. Looking forward to using it in Colorado and Michigan before returning to NE Iowa. 👍
Just returned from a week on the Bighorn River. My guide provided the 9’ 5 wt. Carbon XL. Fish averaged 20” and the XL handled them without trouble. It cast nymphs and dries equally well. I was very impressed. Seems like an incredible value at this price point.

I own two Carbon xl's a 4wt 9' and 5wt 9'. I really enjoy casting these rods. I'm using rio gold on both these rods it seems to load well for me. The fit and finish is good I have zero complaints with these rods. I don't think you could find a better rod at this price.
