I have not been able to use this rod yet but I’m excited to try some surf fly fishing in Newport Beach when I’m out there in a couple of weeks. The rod is beautiful and I’m going to fish it hard in the surf and on some lakes I fish. I can’t wait!
I’m not fishing yet as the season hasn’t started. I did lawn cast the rod and it’s a fine casting rod lined up with a 9wt Rio CQS. I’m looking forward the fishing it.
I purchased the Beulah Opal Surf fly rod from Fin and Fire; my first purchase from this shop. The rod arrived at my house a few days later; it was well packed and arrived in perfect condition. Because it is a Christmas present from my wife, I was only allowed to try it out once. Let me tell you, it is an amazing rod! What power! I caught a large Chain Pickerel on it. No problem for this powerhouse of a rod. Fin and fire, thank you! RL
