Been messing with cheap, plastic reels for too long. When I first started flyfishing, read somewhere that a reel is just a place to store your line. That author was casting and catching 10-inch trout. For 15-20-inch "slabs" in big rivers and fast current, a quality reel with a quality drag system is demanded. Check those off with the Sage Spectrum. First time out was epic big fish day with great performance.

My first fly reel purchase! Did a lot of searching and homework for this one. Needed something dependable that wouldn’t break the bank. This reel checked all the boxes and I got’er all spooled up last night ready to roll!
Put this on a new rod I got for Christmas! Tested it out on an icy river in Colorado. It held up pretty well to the freezing conditions looks beautiful on a new rod!

The Sage Spectrum C reel is well worth the money. It has a very smooth and strong drag. I paired it with a Moonshine Epiphany 10ft 4in, 2wt nymphing rod and it balances very well.

This is a GREAT reel option when you want something good and sturdy to handle some bigger trout but aren't willing to empty your fishing fund for the season. I put this on my Moonshine Drifter II (5 wt 9') and loaded it with Scientific Angler MPX WF5F- I don't normally cast far where I fish most and this set up is perfect. Thanks to for shipping it to me super quickly.

Have not used it yet but fixin to take it to Kodiak, we will see how it does with the Salmon but it’s definitely a good looking reel and feels very smooth. The brake system will be new to me but excited to try it!!

Besides the quality and mechanics the selling point for me was the affordability of the spare spools. I fish several fly lines and other brands are 3/4 price of the reel.

Haven't gotten to use it yet. I purchased it for fall kings. But sage has a really good reputation, and the reel is sweet. I'm sure I wont have any issues with it. All my purchases from fin & fire have been a really good experience. Highly recommend.
