What is it like to work as a full time fishing guide and live the grind that comes with it? What is it like to spend half the year in Alaska, the other half in the woods of Michigan? I sit down with Robbie at Blue Fly B&B in King Salmon and discuss how he got his job and  whether his expectations were met when the dream became a reality.

About Jeff Mishler

Jeff Mishler is a fifth generation Oregonian who's life work is hard to quantify. Father, writer, photographer, television commercial director, environmentalist, video producer/distributor, website manager, hunter, angler and lifelong recreationist who lives a fly-by-the-seat-of-yourpants mantra. If he’s not in his office writing another essay or developing a show concept, he’s chasing mallards and pheasants with his lab Hailey, running his jet sled up a local river to a sweet steelhead run, setting up on a screaming bull elk with bow in hand or conspiring with his small circle of equally affected steelhead bums while downing healthy portions of really good Oregon beer.

Episode 27 | Big Game hunting seasons often change but when they go from an over the counter tag to a controlled hunt, the hunting public is often left with many questions. In this episode of Fin and Fire With Jeff Mishler I sit down with Justin Dior from ODFW, Game Department and ask some tough questions about why my favorite units to hunt elk have moved to a controlled hunt and whether or not those management changes make a difference. In the process, I learn that if I took more advantage of the application process, my overall hunting experience would most likely improve.
