I’ve had a number of outdoor boots over the years and most were good , the Hanwag Alaska GTX boots are in a league of their own for sure . These are extremely well made , looks like Hanwag didn’t overlook anything in design or manufacturing of these boots , they are somewhat stiff however this is a plus especially for walking on uneven ground, rocks , tree roots, washouts, steep hills you name it , the traction they provide is incredible to say the least and very comfortable to wear. They are definitely waterproof, what’s important before buying a boot like these is “ know your shoe size “ . The pair I bought squeaked noticeably when walking this was cured by applying a small amount of Pecards leather dressing on the upper part of the tongue where it meets the outer upper part of the boot…..” squeak cured “ !!!!. I’ve been walking / hiking around New England for over a half century and would highly recommend these boots to anyone and considering the build quality of the Hanwag Alaska GTX they’re amazingly light and very comfortable.
