Private and group casting lessons:

Casting is the single most important tool used in fly fishing, simply put; the more proficient you are, the more fish you will catch and the more you will enjoy the sport. With a few simple mechanics and a basic understanding of some elementary physics, anyone can cast a fly rod. Let Fin & Fire get you started with a solid foundation of the basic skills set, fine tune a troubled cast, or introduce you to advanced techniques.

Fin & Fire casting classes:

Single Hand Beginner casting 1hr – Set yourself up for success by spending a little time on a solid casting foundation. After this class you will have an understanding of:

· Basic Rod anatomy (Rod, reel, line, leader, and tippet)
· Grip
· Stance
· Moving Line - Pick up and lay down cast
· Incorporate line hand

Single Hand Beginner Casting/Fishing 2hr – Designed to provide you with all you need to be successful on the water. Class incorporates all aspects of the 1hr class and in addition adds the following skills:

· Knot tying (Leader, Tippet, Fly)
· Roll cast

Single Hand Intermediate 1 – 1.5hr – Already learned the basics? Ready to move to the next steps or fine tune you cast? Join us for a custom designed casting lesson based on analysis of your current skill set. Class can include any or all of the following:

· Shooting line
· Haul (Single or Double)
· Accuracy
· Distance

Spey (Skagit) Casting 1-2hr – Do you have an interest in double handed casting? The Pacific Northwest is the perfect playground for wielding the double hander. Fin & Fire will help you decipher the mysteries of Skagit casting and have you swinging the fly with confidence. Class includeds:

· Basic understanding of lines and tips
· Understanding of sustained anchors
· Single Spey cast
· Double Spey cast

Fly Tying Classes:

There is little doubt that catching a fish, on a fly that you have created, is one of the most rewarding aspects in fly fishing. Our beginning fly tying class will equip you with the skills necessary to successfully tie a variety of useful fly patterns on your own.

Beginning Fly Tying 2hr each week - This four week class, one day each week, starts at the ground level with little or no experience assumed and explains concepts and terminology to familiarize you to the world of fly tying. We will focus on a couple of fly patterns each week using techniques learned that night and building on the previous weeks. Class discussion will include fly anatomy, terminology, tools and materials used, how to read a pattern recipe, and how to work with the materials. You will tie several patterns including:

· Wooly Bugger
· Soft Hackle
· Pheasant Tail and Hares Ear Nymph
· Griffiths Gnat and Elk Hair Caddis

Fly Fishing Classes:

One day Fly Fishing School 4hr – During this one day class you will learn the fundamentals of Rod anatomy, equipment and fly selection, casting, reading water, knot tying, and basic entomology. Putting all these elements together will allow you to get out on the water and confidently catch fish. Our main focus will be on:

· Equipment
· Casting
· Knot Tying
· Entomology

Two day Fly Fishing School 16hr – From 0-60 MPH in two days is what our two day classes offer. We will take you from complete neophyte to accomplished angler and hopefully even hooking, landing, and releasing your first fly caught fish. What you can expect to learn in our two day schools:
Casting (basic fly cast, roll cast, shoot line, single haul, and double haul)

· Explanation of Equipment used (Rods, reels, lines, leader, Tippet)
· Knot tying (reel to fly connections)
· Entomology (fly selection)
· Reading water
· On the water fishing (end of second day)

* *Must provide own transportation to fishing destination. All class and fishing equipment will be provided.
